A spherometer is used to measure either very small thickness of flat material or the radius of curvature of a spherical surface
Three fixed legs of equal lengths.

    • Screw passes through the centre of the tripod frame parallel to the three legs.
    • A large circular disc graduated with 100 equal parts is attached to the top of the screw called ‘circular scale’.
    • On turning the screw in the clockwise direction, the tip of the screw will move downward.
    • On turning the screw in the anticlockwise direction, the tip of the screw will move upward.
    • A small vertical scale known as the Pitch scale with the scale reading divided into millimeters is fixed at one end of the tripod frame.
